I must admit that I was a little sad to see Natalie's first birthday roll around. I wanted her to stay a baby for a little while longer. But I really am excited to see her walk and talk and run around with her big sister. We had a party for her at my parents' house and had some fun activities for the kids. We had flower pots for the kids to paint any way they wanted, then we filled them up with spring flowers. It was so much fun to watch them paint and loved that they could take it home with them as a little gift. :) We also had an Easter egg hunt. Watching the kids run around finding eggs was so cute! It was such a great party. Happy birthday to our little spitfire Natalie! We love you.<img border="0" height="1" src="https://os.shutterfly.com/b/ss/sflyshareprod/1/H.15/111?pageName=sharekey&c1=photobook&c2=blogger" style="background: #ffffff; border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; box-shadow: none; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" width="1" />Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-39610476646939283132012-03-26T15:09:00.000-07:002012-03-26T15:09:42.170-07:00Palm Springs<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In mid-February, we went from this...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPGure7aqZWL0Sw01be9q96Ofh1F5pLFLP5Zm7v8xVBCdeijJozPenF-ap2N3pJlBA7Ko3UrTvY3yfMVsjfnmYGLUXRfSLVIieR2wwKuJ4WpTQvBrhw8k2ctzD33X_74cpsCZy6SeS_q4/s1600/Dec11-Feb12+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPGure7aqZWL0Sw01be9q96Ofh1F5pLFLP5Zm7v8xVBCdeijJozPenF-ap2N3pJlBA7Ko3UrTvY3yfMVsjfnmYGLUXRfSLVIieR2wwKuJ4WpTQvBrhw8k2ctzD33X_74cpsCZy6SeS_q4/s320/Dec11-Feb12+006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

We had a great vacation in Palm Springs! And it was such a short drive (about 90 miles) to Disneyland so we did that one day, too. The kids had a blast despite Avery feeling a little under the weather. She caught a cold that day (she looked a little dazed in the picture with Ariel, poor girl). :) We took Natalie on most of the rides (Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Little Mermaid, Peter Pan) but her favorite ride was It's A Small World. She danced and giggled and clapped her hands. It was the cutest! Here are some pictures from our trip.<br />

Everytime I sit down to do it, I have to clean up spilled chocolate milk, wipe down ketchup fingers, or grab Natalie off the floor before she eats a fistful of dog hair that she so lovingly yanked out of Grace's behind. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">We had a great holiday season and enjoyed watching our little girl turn 3. She is such a sweet girl but she is a pro at being a 3 year old. We took her to Build-A-Bear where she created a cute little stuffed dog she named Bear. Then right after she was done dressing her beloved Bear, she threw an epic 3 year old fit and tossed Bear as far as she could throw her and cried all the way from the Tacoma mall to Fred's parents house in Silverdale. I just love that we spent $45 on a stuffed animal that she probably hasn't even looked at since. Lesson learned. Although I must say that those fits are few and far between. And while those kinds of things are inevitable, she has such a great personality and is really fun to be around. I chuckle at this Build-A-Bear story now, but while it was happening it was a completely different story! :)</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
This year started out great and continues to be a fun year. I have enjoyed having Freddie at home, but I know that his time off from working on the farm is slowing coming to an end. It'll pick up fast next month. Speaking of next month...Natalie is going to be 1 on March 26th. I can't believe it. She is such a fun baby. She can say ma-ma, da-da, and sissy (although it sounds more like "hissy"). If you ask her what a dog does, she tries to bark. It's just the cutest thing. And she LOVES her big sister so much. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">In about 10 days we leave for Palm Springs. We are looking forward to this much needed family trip. Since it's only about 90 miles away from Disneyland, we plan to take the kids for a day or two. Avery is going to be so excited. The look on her face will be priceless. We are excited to be staying with my mom and dad who rented a house in the desert for a month. Jody, Ryan and Grayson will be there too. Apparently there is a new water park not far from the house and of course tons of other stuff to do: College of the Desert, and the zoo, and shopping!! </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

We've been busy! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Fred's family. Yesterday our sweet Avery turned 3! Grammy, Papa and the 4 of us went out to dinner to celebrate. The festivities continue this weekend as we are headed to Silverdale and Gig Harbor. On Sunday, we'll be going with mom and dad, Jody, Ryan and Grayson and Fred's parents to the Canterwood Country Club where the girls and Grayson will get to have brunch with Santa. Avery will also get to pick out her own new friend at Build-A-Bear. I hope she's going to love it!<br />
<br />
Our sweet little sis Natalie is 8 months old now. She is a big eater and her favorites right now are puffs, yogurt melts, cheese, pieces of bread, bits of banana and canned green beans! The other day I cut little pieces of cream cheese and rolled them in smashed up cheerios so she could pick them up easier and she ate those faster than I've ever seen her eat anything! I'm so glad I have a good eater. It's definitely a switch from Avery. :) Natalie also loves to sip on water after she eats. She became a pro at the sippy cup in about 2 days, which really surprised me. She still has "stranger danger" so it'll be fun to see what she does when she meets Santa!<br />
<br />
Here are a few pictures from Thanksgiving weekend. My friend Delayna of <a href="http://www.quietstarsphotography.com/">http://www.quietstarsphotography.com/</a> took these photos. She did an amazing job! <br />

Which is great, but I think we've got a little someone who is going to give us a run for our money! Natalie is so sensitive. She will definitely let you know when she is not happy. Avery is always so easy going. Natalie LOVES to eat and she will let you know when you don't move the spoon to her mouth fast enough. Avery hardly ever ate much when she was a baby and Natalie will finish two jars of pureed food in two minutes flat. Avery always let people hold her...she didn't care who it was. Natalie has "stranger danger" like nobody's business! I always feel bad for whoever asks to hold her. They're taking a gamble on that girl! As her dad would say, "she's sassy like her mom." Hey, she just knows what she wants! Gotta love her for that. But she and Avery get along so well together. I like watching Avery make her little sister laugh and how Natalie's face lights up when she sees her. It's so great that they have eachother! <br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Avery is doing well. She loves watching Disney movies and she has such a great imagination! Her stories are so funny. The other day she was asking me about my wedding ring. I told her that I wear my ring and daddy wears his ring and it means that we are married. She looked at me and said, "oh, just like me and Theo." Theo was the ring bearer in Nik and Lilian's wedding back in July! I couldn't believe she remembered his name and made that connection of marriage and being in a wedding. She's too smart for her own good!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

Irina Cyr works with my friend Alice and I've always been in such awe of her work ever since I saw the pictures she took at Alice's twins' birthday party. She sent these to me as a little sneak peek. I can't wait to see them all! Thanks Irina for taking pictures for us and for working with a 2.5 year old who never wanted to look at the camera! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<div>She started rice cereal awhile ago and really liked it. She is now eating one meal a day of rice cereal and a puree of a fruit or a veggie and she is such a good eater. I'm getting used to it now, but I wasn't at first because Avery never ate much - and she still doesn't. I'm excited for her to try puffs and yogurt soon!</div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-387506412881679172011-09-16T11:17:00.000-07:002011-09-17T14:57:59.981-07:00MauiOn Labor Day we woke up at 3:30 (in the morning!) to get the girls ready to catch a 6 AM flight from Yakima to Seattle. Avery was so excited to ride in an airplane. We met up with Fred's parents in Seattle and we were off to Maui! The girls did fantastic on the flight, with the exception of a little crying the last 20 minutes or so. I think that's pretty good for a 5.5-6 hour flight! I can only imagine that their ears hurt, although Avery also said she felt like throwing up. We had the little baggie ready for her but she never did. Poor thing. She also had plenty of toys, coloring books, food, and her dvd player which kept her very busy.<br /><br />Fred and Ceil got a 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo in Kihei for all 8 of us (our family, Fred and Ceil, and Nik and Lilian). It worked out perfectly. We had a full kitchen and hit Costco once we got there. We went out to dinner each evening but made breakfast and lunch in our room mostly. It would have been a nightmare taking the kids out to eat at every meal. We did have a special birthday party for Fred's dad to celebrate his 70th! We BBQ'd steaks at the condo and had a great time.<br /><br />Nik and Lilian rented surf boards and did a lot of surfing. Fred got to join them a couple of times and he had a blast. I mostly enjoyed the pool or the beach with the girls, Ceil and Fred. We got to do some shopping at the Grand Wailea Mall (which was amazing!) and we also went into the cute little town of Lahaina and shopped as well. On Thursday, Lilian treated me to a spa morning for my birthday at the Grand Wailea resort. It was amazing and by far the best (and largest) spa I have ever seen!<br /><br />On Friday we took the girls to the aquarium. It was a really neat one, and Avery loved seeing all fish and even the sharks. She kept yelling out "Look at the big yellow fish!" or my favorite "Look at the big big shark! It won't get me!" Friday eveing Laura and Rob each had a "girls night out" and "boys night out". Ceil watched the girls for us so that I could go with Lilian to celebrate with Laura and Freddie could go with Nik and Fred to celebrate with Rob. We went to the Marriott's Mala bar/restaurant. The guys went to Tommy Bahama's.<br /><br />Saturday was Laura (Fred's sister) and Rob's wedding. We met them at the Grand Wailea and had family pictures taken near a beautiful waterfall. The wedding and reception were both at Gannon's Restaurant. Their wedding was in a grassy area that overlooked the ocean, a beautiful golf course, and tons of lush tropical flowers and trees. A funny little tidbit about the Grand Wailea and Gannon's is that both of these places were filming locations in the movie "Just Go With It" with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler.<br /><br />We flew home on 9/11. And while I felt like I had an anxiety attack the day before we left, I did feel safe traveling that day. The reason I don't ever want to fly again on any 9/11 day is that it took FOREVER to get through security and with two little ones, it was a rough start to our trip home. There were TSA agents and policeman everywhere. That was both a little reasurring and a little scary. Once we got past security and we were at our gate, they were grabbing random people and doing hand residue checks. Fred was one of the lucky ones. They just swiped a white piece of special paper over his hands and then put it through their machine. I've flown many times and I've never seen that one before!<br /><br />All and all, it was a great trip! The kids did great with the time change. I think it was Fred and I who had such a rough time re-adjusting to Pacific Standard time! But we all had a really fun family vacation!<br /><br />Here are just a few pictures (in random order) from our trip -<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi13GzOY_JUQSzOcAYxKFwo12LEMyigdeIM55XusHCciM1aT0Thg9C1nNSUcgDEHNB2RIC5tdVyqWDyMETSPUXqPryvDGP9dE7eHM3uiBv7goOFuOKhNHneOB-z8EZRUvEqBRtu6Iv6fHk/s1600/August_Sept2011+089.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; Oh, that's right, it's because I've got 2 kids and I'm working and trying to keep up with our daily lives! July came and went in a blur. Fred's mom and dad came over to stay with the girls while our daycare was on vacation . We did many things, including a trip to the Woodland Park Zoo. Fred's dad also did a few things around the house and we appreciated that so much!<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5635166016662926194" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif0kDe1Vg8ltEriYSVY4OQ_PkIqRRJ-WP59F53RIUoDX7eMmPcUi9dUabZBM8kQyCQzejDmHyLWakKjcMMGmJrq_kIIaCNfJbIpM6hXvoOBsaaKtE122Y4vbhU-V_xdID7ycbiz2Tju7o/s400/July2011+005.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5635166025700017010" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQTDdHpvqDYwBoEiCZkiQvYk0Hl-sX3h2clEbnToQABgbeYp5BvTLc1COiplgpTcxUpf_aFqaOPbV4IbIK-CRNSNNC0WS0Ffz1js49YaImD1NL3ooL_pmmzScLhqTBvvn-V-ojyS4n6Lk/s400/July2011+030.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5635166021661374386" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGLzsybCZY2A5_QPbd0Qy-LZPhkhamwmkUejvOrtCV6BVIVr-RRj9GXG68aMU6YnmBA53gyshokv7EOhgbVRa_F1alN_1JaKV6WIyytebQiwFVC3qkso__DhZggHfeoI-rAN4d-DSHQ6o/s400/July2011+014.JPG" /><br /><br /><br /><div>On the 21st we headed to Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, WA for Fred's brother's wedding. Lilian looked so beautiful and the location, wedding and reception was just breathtaking. The sun was shining and everything went perfectly. Even Avery did a great job as the flower girl. By the day we had prior to the wedding, I didn't think she was going to pull it off! She was cranky and threw tantrums (ya know, a typical 2 year old). But she did it and we were so proud of her! Here are a few pictures taken by Fred's sister Laura.</div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5636349787929322482" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT-hGz5NcqOV5k6-nqagJB9xHGCw-DERk_9a2m4xkbXUO_ynFwuSX4bWtkPv7it7POBrzZP9ozGtcFVpeMu3v9SbwWu7zkzu4qv0uD5C8IL7FQjoBTBFVT3K2Btcx0HAOj_xaBbpfwWl8/s400/flowergirl4.jpg" /></div><br /><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5636346637911951570" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOZuLrDN27HFjuRj2ry_NmlvKB_f82ferA-nAUOWTL7gkRJ2sayPJjxM1FFVinTrD60VZ9NkxdE7JOqjgO1tmgPxDzF1rXMGjw2sVsCkwoT-ld6J4i23S_7vnv9zGkf6TBRx16C2ATMVo/s400/flowergirl3.jpg" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5636346633379195026" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFScPXo9t1Udiy5XLt9eQpUoFdkvWqgtiz8n-CKnCVq-LYYg4a73TJwgCsRXDyTIPXKuaGxZUbpO4dYRFGgcKhPwTRQCEOmhPcGCSqo2sDTsplEoe2oPlQsqxUNImU70B6mMqrWB6YrDM/s400/flowergirl2.jpg" /><br /><br /><br />Our sweet little Natalie turned 4 months old. She is just the sweetest little thing with a really big attitude! She definitely knows what she wants! I can't wait to see how her personality progresses. She is starting to interact with Avery and always smiles when Avery talks to her. I love it! What I don't love is when they simutaneously start crying at the same time, when I can't reach over the car seat when I'm driving to put Natalie's binkie back in her mouth or when I'm right in the middle of feeding Natalie a bottle and Avery yells that she has to go "poop". But we make it work. My house might not be as clean as I'd like it to be and dinner might not get on the table until late but it's times like that when I just have to remember how blessed I am.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623491433350905858" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-5jwGTePxU_mDsRHExEF__Gt2907TQzY5Br6m0Yt9HVQ9YLYvCEAJVxUlHJfSzTa9ESqafyVn6C216Xy4SG3WqgqncUQqEHjq0RBrOFjnqzdBROxzSQxuZiucwZi4XYxygZKtbsNSwJ4/s400/June2011+043.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623491430656204722" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqt7G6oHEN49USbDA07fWwnW-M7SYwPKBvUIaV7nFMcbx3xsI7H1VVronJJC4AALJ3UVnYBHJhG-0FFwf0EpdpLdfKYl3iTCB4uu5y9TPVd5yTU6qgsMVRxAL80vo1iVWMMXVEUpf_5bE/s400/June2011+044.JPG" /><br /></div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><div>If you are looking for bows, clips or headbands for your little sweetie, check out Briar.Claire at <a href="http://www.facebook.com/briarclaire">www.facebook.com/briarclaire</a>. They have the cutest hair accessories. Avery has a ton and I've already started a collection for Natalie! Briar.Claire is an etsy shop (<a href="http://www.briarclaire.etsy.com/">http://www.briarclaire.etsy.com/</a>) and they also have a blog (<a href="http://www.briarclaire.blogspot.com/">http://www.briarclaire.blogspot.com/</a>). The best part is that they have a sale going on right now! They have $1 clips and 25% off everything. I just bought a cute white headband with a white flower with little rhinestones in the center for Avery to wear when she is a flower girl next month in Fred's brother's wedding. Avery loves her flower girl dress, shoes and headband and calls it her princess outfit. Now only if she'll actually walk down the aisle...I hope so!<br /></div><br /><div><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 360px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623491422570963330" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmqq_kwqaBs_jjr49NUIO5rAr9ycjPsimN5pHv9f19U2motuNbZOP-Mku-vB7tEKpi3vfEcGpdyVZQMAYDaPn9XbrV9eAcjVIvGTYwOEK0T-mKfNKfKVW-Rh98zt9j6KEhOPP7Dmvva1Y/s400/June2011+034.JPG" /><br />We also have another family wedding coming up. Fred's sister Laura is getting married to Rob in Maui on 9/10/11. We are so excited to take the girls! I think the fun they will have will definitely outweigh any traveling anxiety that I may have about flying with 2! We've done it quite a few times with Avery. She's done great on long trips - we even flew with her to Hawaii when she was 12 months. Let's hope it goes smoothly with a 2 and a half year old and a 5 month old! Thank goodness I got a baby Ergo for Mother's Day. That thing is going to be my lifesaver!! </div></div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-71014098357349885562011-05-26T14:45:00.001-07:002011-05-26T14:54:46.622-07:002 Months OldNatalie is two months old today. Time goes by so fast, I can't even believe it. I've packed away the newborn clothes. Not sure if I will sell them or save them for the next person I know who has a girl. Either way, we won't be needing them. We're 99.9% sure that our family feels complete. Natalie is so sweet and loves to smile and "talk"....lots of cooing and screeching in the evenings! Her 2 month appointment is next week. I'm excited to see how much she's grown!<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611145620555234354" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2vNXDZ5C3TPXZsZdYUCApubVhNB1hsXODvoXTW835efgDRHsk3inH-REIgMERVP_jfCjR2YKWWTTTxe_xOfNMbnH38xYLtK-fPrrR-53HfknG5niJuXS5hVPatXHTGItKpzLzoJXhi0c/s400/007.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611145634200303938" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhayeYLxgTYJXD5mjM1sGoD6AIKqDkoHA1kL_McWXNyTv8eerFYWOj9rTAO4JGkafxIeyZjdqkzsBBtBIblIKhNnkSWmSuwtMzoORjEUEMT9lEnJ2-NiSj0wD5Mhrn8XxADfEkOwjnlIXU/s400/008.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611145627964943746" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYzPn50tzx06A4oVEAqIUFC4OQxiIc-CNZNW48ekXT-lHery0iOfVMvoBd9J53IL2fO65-_7p-X_E6JD76BRGh6IMxhI8IvMkCelhuzAXfYnszPEAg7UrsAx9EV2OsYndoMpAL7ERl400/s400/006.JPG" />Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-75760589158037892812011-05-26T14:25:00.000-07:002011-05-26T14:41:49.694-07:00Mud Pies Anyone?Yum. We bought Avery a Little Tykes "Makin' Mud Pies" outdoor kitchen the other day. It's been so cold that we haven't been outside to play with it. But it wasn't so bad today and she really wanted to "use the sink." While we were outside, she made me chocolate chip cookies and apple pie. This will definitely be a fun toy for the backyard this summer! <br /><div></div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611141041745294354" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXgiqOMkp85_B1YF69berZgT3YJrNk41uWkTu9-FwKdutHMxSzmkVaRw039flojboUqCv54agq0T3uB0CGiAQpkA5-XnOWqY96uPy-Y_rhh-x05VnA3dudF5ZQ2L0zp1SeIyyqcijivz4/s400/023.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611142529284236898" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpsH3abBbbOFXCAyEX4XE5luOQdLRDPUmKCnyPV2I-jTC2g-5mqoRmtLv0a-LJ1L6xy2DaxGxe8BjW0slUpcKDJ6wGbBlHv7pOxthNEHAqbNbocSxjvPYg4otCXiEl-ClCc-BFBE_R1xY/s400/018.JPG" /><br /></div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611141027048820978" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEwx4A2r7Go3OWQskU9HsnZqlcOCb3ztuoRUd-YHMbdaXBpl_DY8SAhiuGjt4ujwBbVQv52KhFBUFWDv15-zwkecQzMUerT54YuF8n0stkZMlF16pFqwIHfbnznFkLNiZwOjWOXzq2kII/s400/020.JPG" /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtFO-EF7orAOqg413bI_DAyIFd8rvEfjZXBCzfr92xd5at7u_Aqn0LBueVt_PMtRk4U90KLEoOKipxwHKPcGtRYXf52uUAeARFE4RsdFZV_2JEWPc8OsxDjDyjB3W65BLW5dGqHBp01AM/s1600/022.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611141037969895698" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtFO-EF7orAOqg413bI_DAyIFd8rvEfjZXBCzfr92xd5at7u_Aqn0LBueVt_PMtRk4U90KLEoOKipxwHKPcGtRYXf52uUAeARFE4RsdFZV_2JEWPc8OsxDjDyjB3W65BLW5dGqHBp01AM/s400/022.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div></div></div></div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-77644431079467876022011-05-22T09:27:00.000-07:002011-05-22T09:52:19.421-07:00CampingFred can't wait to take Avery camping this summer. I'm sure that when Natalie is a little older, it will be a fun family adventure! But for now, Fred is excited for some father/daughter time with Avery. He was anxious to see if she liked sleeping in a tent so he set up a tent in the backyard. He actually set up 2; the small one is our tent and the bigger one is our friend's tent. It's huge!! So that is the one they slept in. Avery loved it! I went out to say goodnight and she had her flashlight and was "looking for animals." It was so funny! She has such an imagination. Fred said that she was talking to someone in the tent last night. She was talking about strawberries and daddy. We asked her this morning who she was talking to and she said "Greg". I don't know where she comes up with this stuff!<br /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609582293821548066" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8_FMboMERNI8bUKyb67A7N4YI1tRlrr1yq4vWMkaveN_kBHc-HFKDH_JEIx87L-32S50T22H90lzYneqfOcJK4fCxa3K8_k5h11pIhRQA6CTVTugIcz6PRkRfwNqR5NDdPkjWYZS3XTA/s400/015.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609582316639370370" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMuhpINOf-nwqmxA1S1mfNsJARc1TLKR71c4aQGI1Sc437854NnADCvUPbU5WVYX6Hsu9rFYXHo7h5T_1tPxnhOa7RXsPXXljupoaMFslmq6ZimBXqFMv37Cjs9-Fsb-L3yZV0BM60RLg/s400/023.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609582307903400658" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpju1bRJySkauyXSa6PpCsKYR9Fbqk5gEsKHQaGHV6LSrBPH215CEiEqKx8FusHKA7Qf7lip6iHs10Kj48E0Qc6FhReR2gnZ5zWToX4WZoE8OTG6-ysKt6zR7Xnvj2IEjzZGzeCcfs6hI/s400/021.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609582304708556370" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFvn6JGPFigcqATJIs6Z4i6kxtyz-AoIc3e3Mjzl0kyP06ftnNdOIOKganrI39yLjqQ0SHxA8bwRDaA0eY5fi33CmGaGmCXCMh6SycHKhbCwJhCDXy8a0LiHcQl1-7v5ehyqX8B3tXVLc/s400/017.JPG" />Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-58937916436626883762011-05-22T09:10:00.000-07:002011-05-22T09:51:31.123-07:00SpringtimeIt finally feels like Spring! Natalie had a really hard time on the Enfamil newborn formula the first week home, so we switched to the Gentlease and it completely changed her! Poor thing was having so much tummy trouble and since the switch, she's been so much happier. She's an easy baby and enjoys eating! From day one, Avery was never a big eater. She still isn't. She weighed 6 lbs, 5 oz and was 17.75 inches long. She looks so much like Avery and weighed only 2 oz less than Avery when she was born! I was 38 weeks and it went very smooth and really I couldn't have asked for a better labor and delivery. My water broke that morning right before 1 am. By 3 am, I was in the hospital but not having strong contractions. Around noon I got an epidural and at 12:45 I started pushing. Ten minutes later she arrived. I felt such a huge relief after she was born because I had horrible back labor due to Natalie's posterior position. No wonder I had so much back pain in the weeks leading up to delivery. Ouch!</div><br /><div><br /><div>We are adjusting well and Avery loves her little sister. She keeps calling her "Avery's Natalie"! This pregnancy has been much harder than with Avery. I've been in constant pain in some form or another since week 30. It's been an interesting 5 weeks of back pain, hip pain, contractions, leg pain, headaches, pelvic pain. Working full time still and coming home to a toddler who wants to play and run around can be exhausting! There is no time for rest, except when Fred gets home from work and can help with bath time and bed time. I'm trying not to complain though. I just want to soak up this time as we are in the final weeks of being a family of 3. Many new challenges are ahead for us! It is exciting but yet also a little scary too. I hope I can handle what's to come.<br /><br />At my 34 week appointment, I had an ultrasound to check fluid levels. The fluid levels were fine, thank goodness, and we found out baby weighed in at 4.375 lbs. I think we're going to have another petite baby, and I'm very much ok with that! Although Avery was about 6.5 lbs, my guess is that this baby will be close to or at 7 lbs. But that's just my guess! </div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-83178311781269805402011-03-03T19:09:00.000-08:002011-03-03T19:48:23.583-08:00Discovery Village<div><div>We made a trip over to Gig Harbor last weekend. Jody, Ryan, Fred and I took Grayson and Avery to a new place called Discovery Village. They had a huge play area with fun stuff to climb on, a moon sand station, play grocery store, pizzaria, vet office, coloring station, shiny rock station and train station. They also have a litte cafe where moms and dads can order coffees, cupcakes or snacks and just hang out and watch the kids! It was so fun and they had such a great time! These pictures are so funny...Avery still refuses to look at the camera and smile! I hope this phase ends soon.</div><div> </div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5580065700703952754" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFucxHC_eOENDFzwdPiKKJd4Fo-4gw-7QSATn0YO0HTiMzqXlKUa-yKRzrxJV5gk6qf50hES4SB7c1RmeXDdvWI1D66e3xPY0QpgLVQahaTowb5lOMJ8HcZTCGN09RGDFwm8k7Ek0RPZg/s320/022611+005.JPG" /></div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; She is testing boundaries (as most 2 year olds do) and watches our every move to see how we react. Sometimes it's tough to keep our ground, especially when she says or does something that is really funny or naughty. But we are so proud of her in so many ways! In the month of January alone she was potty trained, moved from crib to a toddler bed AND quit the binky. The binky was a tough one but we powered though. It kind of happened on accident as she lost her only binky one night right before bed. We looked for 45 minutes for the darn thing and just gave up. Sure, I could have made a trip to the store to get more but I knew she was ready to get rid of it. It was a rough few days to say the least. She did get to pick out a big girl toy after her first night without her "binky fire" (as she so lovingly called it). She was excited about that and picked out a Mrs. Potato Head.</div><div></div><br /><div>She is just like a sponge and is constantly absorbing tons of new words (even some Spanish words!), songs, numbers and emotions. She is just the sweetest! The pictures are not the greatest but I've been just awful about taking pictures lately, so the ones above are from our phones. :)</div></div></div></div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-40248819878237419902011-02-23T20:37:00.000-08:002011-02-23T21:47:25.040-08:00Baby's room (so far)<div><div><div>Today my mom and aunt painted the baby's room for us. We kept it really close to the same color. I'm usually really organized when it comes to paint colors. I've got a spreadsheet made up of all the colors (names, numbers, finishes) we've used in our house so we can keep track if we ever have to re-paint. However, that room was a mystery to us and I didn't keep the paint sample from when we painted that room a few years ago. Anyway, we matched it the best we could but it still was off. It was SO nice of my mom and aunt to paint the room again for us.<br /><br />My Aunt Cathy then painted a branch of birds on one wall that matches the baby's crib set from Pottery Barn Kids. She did an amazing job and I really feel like it's finally becoming a baby girl's room! We've got a couple things to do still (blinds, lamp, wall letters, picture frames, etc) but we're a few steps closer to its completion. Thanks Mom and Cathy, we really appreciate it!</div><div> </div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577127135337003010" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsPgMjLOB8tgsR_w5tTXa7EjuozbSrhhn2_JOcPS43Ow_6Z2zFc4mAJdnWBJdcbgvr9jfQWFztOXY3BOwNgJMo7FKjS7nbXhV1L_01esdtOl95MeAjVWzDjJMRn-7Yb1heibNFi-__AuY/s400/Jan_Feb+2011+022.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577127145604634642" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpLwRnUHQZ2xCyO6ypP2Os2B-2Uf6viFWO6kLtdC6-5hJTw_SGlZGkLoMsNY8q_9QlFQ6oVsBxmCXyP7T2dMaNYk3GUOlBxU1bujTlrq0DAl5o2UfJphlL0NEtNSqcfqA6ZGRuZ0nBOlc/s400/Jan_Feb+2011+027.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577127140118499586" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZXXtoO818nU0RP0hijDqMnKYV8ivRigvS27CJ3acqx9Ow3K8Ht2agyNxja-S1uY5b7oiRsptYO4SFnzwUQublfnxoPqMu_VDkZxKe0ZMkZfUUx81Hqc385auQ6KGxDxzypMJ-PdKM8hE/s400/Jan_Feb+2011+025.JPG" /></div></div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-86445890674712818002011-01-03T19:34:00.000-08:002011-01-03T19:40:16.017-08:00Adventures in Potty TrainingI had a wonderful New Year's 2011. Not because I went out and partied to celebrate the new year. And not because I got all dressed up and had a place to go. I actually spent December 31st, January 1st and January 2nd at home potty training Avery. I know it sounds funny but just the time that we got to spend together alone (yep, I decided to go for it when Fred happened to be out of town) was so much fun! I read the online 3-Day Potty Training eBook by Lora Jensen a couple of months ago and was so inspired by it, I knew I wanted to try out this method with Avery. I was so afraid of potty training and didn't think I had it in me to stick to it. I knew I had a good candidate on my hands; Avery showed many signs that she was ready (waking up dry, interest in the toilet, and letting us know when she went potty). Plus, I REALLY didn't want to have two in diapers come April. And can I just add that if you haven't read this eBook and you are thinking of potty training, give it a shot! You really don't have anything to lose except for diapers!<br /><br />Friday - We woke up, ate breakfast and I talked to my sister on the phone (who had just potty trained Grayson a few days prior with the same method). She reminded me to tell Avery over and over, "Let Mommy know when you have to go potty, ok?". Even if I said it and was sure she tuned me out, keep repeating it. So after talking to my sister, I took a deep breath and said "here goes nothing!" I changed Avery out of her pjs and took off her last diaper to date. I showed her the pretty princess and Minnie Mouse panties. I was prepared after purchasing 21 pair! She thought they were pretty and was excited to put on a pair. I put a shirt on her and that was it. The book says no pants for 3 days. Then I grabbed all the diapers that were sitting out and told Avery that she was a big girl and didn't need baby diapers anymore. I asked her if she wanted to throw them away. She did so happily. One by one she threw away the 6 diapers. I still had an unopened box in the closet, but I am saving those for the next baby. I gave Avery water, juice, milk. Basically changed it up to keep her interested in drinking. It worked. She went potty. A lot. In her panties. My job was to watch her constantly - watch for when she goes and watch for signs of how she reacts when she goes. When I saw her going potty, I'd scoop her up and take her to her potty chair and set her down. When she finished going in the potty, I would reward her with a few m&ms or a Hershey's Kiss or stickers. We did this many times during the day. She stayed dry at nap time (she got a coloring book and crayons for that!) and would eventually run to me when she felt that she starting going...ok, we were making progress. By the end of the day, I probably washed 12 pairs of underwear! What a day! She really did not like her potty chair so I set up her kiddie seat on the regular toilet. Worked much better for her!<br /><br />Saturday - I was feeling a little anxious about another day of accident after accident. But was so thankful that she didn't have an overnight accident...things were looking up! I think the main reason why she didn't have an overnight accident was because she has nights where she doesn't wet a diaper and also because we stop fluids a couple hours before bed. She hardly misses it. If she asks, she gets a sip or two. About 10 am, I think something clicked for her. She'd run to me and grunt or grab my leg or get a funny look on her face. It was like she was saying "Hey, I gotta go now!". She did have one poopy accident and I caught that one right away because she got up and put her back towards me. I knew that was coming! She also stayed dry during her nap. By the afternoon, she was saying "Momma, potty!". It really was amazing to watch it click for her. Fred got home from San Francisco (he was helping Nik and Lilian move) around 6 pm and he got to watch Avery go potty, "wipe", flush the toilet, tell the contents of the toilet "good bye, see you later", and wash her hands! She was so proud of herself! And we were proud of her!<br /><br />Sunday - This morning was the only overnight accident she had. Avery woke up at 5 am and I took her to the potty. She didn't have to go. So, I took her back to her room and she slept until 7:30. I got to sleep too! It was so nice. But I think that was too long for her to sleep without another potty break. Later, I was able to run to the store while Fred watched Avery. She did have one accident for him, but then she was able to tell him when she had to go. It was also Avery's first time out since Thursday. We went to my mom and dad's for dinner. She did great and even went potty on the toilet while we were there!<br /><br />Monday - Another dry night! She went potty right away when she woke up and then shortly after headed off to daycare. She had an accident-free day while she was there! We are just so proud of her. And I'm so glad that I did the 3-day training. It was rough on my back and I didn't get to rest very much but it was worth it!Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344769934273355366.post-42126971241672140452010-12-05T21:37:00.001-08:002010-12-06T14:34:11.325-08:00Brrrr....Once again, we asked the talented Hailey Haberman to take some family pictures for us. It happened to be the first day of snow in mid November and it was super cold! We all tried the best we could to make Avery smile, but it was short lived. Despite the weather, Hailey took some great pictures in the snow!<br /><br /><br /><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5547445400624295458" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDh9atgybP3XlW_y8G6vtlObeUNKby5R6UoK7DuchoTm-fwNyknZK5a4b6k6ywKyHL5a3Wf1K-EzTTkLsLl7pLiVTvxPsglPShLu0CQnA5jz4eTpdqJsiCSq-A4gwFRMHwj5ZmcSA406U/s400/IMG_2035.jpg" /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5547442310609724738" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj863Wo-NR2uVDoyZoBGf_blN9kmNMXHb_p4enV-a8p42RxpTycIZ1VCitzRAceI-ABS7rp2sLWWU_R8PVy0rELIQTjsMeqmjkdZtNSuZuUq5njM0jt0-OBuzYM-522RTPVERf29rRaH70/s400/IMG_1944.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5547440738362421874" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAP1Vds_kkWkzxxnWha5aH73T64MLzmGLNWm0HVPdsXaprcpmx8qruttv2H_gX-b0vPapZHrevIuyXOMzENtmBT_f1hgcIhVmZX717K5AbLfPKcSSoos0bDuij1FwF3WLCjq0MVBoGt-M/s400/IMG_1887.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5547444035518311282" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzsY4TCyfVXEmJJo6C3Qa_GnF2SjvApyC7XAxrXTRQJBet-SSkEwD1Bk88yg8IqBnrZKYAMswSUHkG9Nxtf5a8CgWowGpKowCW44MmFk0YV2WWvK4IwAzlIEmg5v1FhNngXfIVwBxLC-c/s400/IMG_2025.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5547444046824571170" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKVhdWh_bCs0lUiP5JUZsgZchQ22JHftMWVfGEi3kC_1Cw9QxNQDuXyWmAnwhOnFNg2h_evGDQs9XIIU8QB8JdXZIJpDfFJfI0gDlUPocE__m4H0lglPYXXU9QsniVo6wPaH48lDC9Y88/s400/IMG_2127.jpg" /></p><p><a href="http://www.hjgphoto.com/">www.hjgphoto.com</a></p>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03427401430071437598noreply@blogger.com0
